The theme of Seto is to study living things and imitate or take inspiration from these designs and processes to create new products. Also, we take it important to learn how human beings are concerned in nature and living things in history: how we have lived with them, found the meanings of them, and expressed them, and how our history has been changed.
Crittercards are the paper craft cards, and a single card can be cut and folded to make all sorts of creatures. This idea is taken from a origami paper with which we fold and express a variety of creatures. The creatures made from Crittercards become delightful toys which spin, rock, and perform simple actions. They are modeled on the folk toys made by craftsmen who put the various thoughts toward creatures around them. Eastern cultures have always valued on an everyday level the images projected by different animals; the tortoise with its long life span for example being seen to bring good fortune, the powerful tiger guarding against evil, the gecko protecting the house that is symbolized because of it name, "yamori" in Japanese, a homonym for "protector of the house". You may also find those kind of images in the creatures of Crittercards.
We study the connection of human beings and creatures, and express our thoughts by creating the new products.
